Project Brief

The first iteration uses chair details and lamp profiles and observes other Chippendale work.  It maintains some of the elements of the first composition like the geometric pattern and the profiles seen on the back of the chair, the mirror and some iconic ornamentation from baroque furniture.  The composition moves from top to bottom. In between, the brush stroke pattern and other filters in the print provide a different threshold.  We took inspiration from Laura Owens and used the technique in her paintings of bold graphic scribbling to interrupt the composition in the middle.

The second composition used MDF and has three layered heights.  We used the milling process to eliminate flatness throughout the composition.  Sometimes depth is used to our advantage to blur the print to produce different perspectives, in the case of the chair detail seen below.
